Description official descriptions

Airline Tycoon is a managerial simulation in which the player is the manager of an airline company. This game features six missions (plus a tutorial) in which the player needs to fulfil different goals to win. Of course it offers all usual options for business games: fire and hire personnel, taking commissions (while considering the capabilities of the own fleet) or buying, repairing and upgrading airplanes. Every day has two recurring activities: receiving feedback for the past work and planning the routes for every plane. This can be a challenging task because the 48 airports along with an unlimited number of planes (18 different models) give a lot of opportunities. The player also has the option to cooperate with one of the three AI competitors.

Besides the usual office and statistics screen this game also features an animated airport view in which the player receives optical feedback, e.g. potential customers which think about the stuff they like and dislike. On this screen the player has direct control over his character and moves him to the places where the above mentioned actions are performed.

Good Game

The Good
It is a very fun game. It can make you feel great, when you see a $4 million dollar premium in the travel agency. However you can also feel sneaky by... well, Buy the violin case in the duty free shop and give it to the man in petrol air and see.

The Bad
Not much, but it does get boring and monotonous after a while.

The Bottom Line
It is a good fun game to play and it has two campaign modes as well as codes to keep its excitement from expiring too soon, but in about two weeks you'll feel like you've done everything. I do suggest the expansion pack Airline Tycoon Evolution once you've beaten the game.

Fun game! Recommended for planes lovers...

The Good
Great comic graphics - the quality of the graphics is really good, reminding old adventure games. There's a lot of humor and fun stuff - and a few hidden places as well. You can see all kind of passengers walking around (some of them are really weird), and if they bought a ticket, you can follow them to the gates, where they wait, and finally enter the plane and take off. The business model is quite ok, also it does get a bit repetitive after a while. Gladly, Spellbound entered a few things to make it more fun and competitive - like earning money to buy components to build an space shuttle. It's the little things that make this game funny and fun.

The Bad
It might stop entertain you too fast, especially if you don't love airplanes, airlines, or business games. Other than that, I can't find much bad things about the game... Not major ones, at least.

The Bottom Line
A fun, cheap game - recommended if you're looking for a great tycoon game.
