Description official description

Much like Mario Party and Crash Bash, Sonic Shuffle has Sonic and his team playing a board game style tournament, where mini-games are at every turn.

Each character has a group of cards with a number on each. On every turn, the player chooses a card to determine how many steps to take. When all of the cards have been used the deck is reshuffled, and each player gets a new hand. While a player can see only the numbers on their own cards and not the numbers on other players' cards, they can still choose the cards of another player.

Each board has certain tiles: blue adds 3 rings to your total; red removes 3 rings from your total and special tiles which places all of the players into a min-game or event.

The aim of the game, at the end of it all, is to get the Precioustone (1 per board).

Party Hardy

The Good
The game seems much better then people give it credit. The game does suffer with a few problems, although it was released for a Dreamcast.

The gameplay is very good, and the character basic actions are just great. It's a shame it didn't have a story to tell, because I just know it would of been even better.

The music was great, too.

The Bad
For starters, the graphics. They are in 2-D. I do have to understand, it was released for a Dreamcast console. I wouldn't think, that it would be released for Wii.

The Bottom Line
The video game is good for a children's birthday party. As when it was my birthday, my friends gave me this video game as a present.

To be fair, teenagers could in fact get bored. The video game is best for a five year old and above. It's good to play, when children have nothing to do.

To tell you truth, I no longer own a Dreamcast console. So the last time I have played on Sonic Shuffle, was within the year 2002.

Underrated Gem

The Good
This game was just fun. There was no story, the production quality wasn't high but it was fun. It has very nice cell shaded graphics and lots of fun mini games. A great game for a party or just for hanging out.

The Bad
It was a rip off of Mario Party but hey it's still great. The music gets very repetitive and it is very hard for younger players mainly because the computer cheats!!! It only has four characters (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy) where as Mario Party has lots more. Two more characters would have given it a little more variety.

The Bottom Line
If you have a Dreamcast pick it up, I mean its only like 5 dollars now.

My 9 year old Really likes it.

The Good
I think the aspect of the game that appeals to my 9 year old is that it has her favorite characters and is a multi-player game that anyone has a chance at winning. It gives her a chance to play the game with friends (or parents) who may not know as much about Sonic the Hedgehog. It also gives her a chance against the more advanced players.

The Bad
From my perspective, it is a means of cashing in on Sonic. It is repetitive, the mini-games and events are not that challenging. Each zone takes quite a while to complete, the story line is predictable and the computer players seem to almost always get the roll they need. Furthermore, the graphics are flat and uninteresting compared to the others in the Sonic series on the Dreamcast.

The Bottom Line
I think this is probably a good game for the under 10 crowd. Parents will get bored, but should probably spend time playing it with their kids - then go play one of the Sonic Adventures for some real fun.
