Description official description

Pick your favorite Digimon and battle your way to the top in this arena-style fighter based on characters from the Digimon TV show. You can play through various interactive (and dangerous) arenas for the championship, or you can rumble with your friends in 2-4 player multiplayer mode. Collect pickups and learn special moves to gain the advantage over your friends, and for the ultimate upgrade, you can evolve (Digi-volve) into bigger and better versions of yourself.

Bandai should stick to the RPG style it used in Digimon World.

The Good
This fighting game doesn't really have much to offer, but I'll try. To start, the arenas are pretty varied. Digivolving (like Pokemon evolving, but only temporary) is actually fun and gives you an edge in battle. The characters, while a small selection, are true to the show.

The Bad
Let me count the things really screwed up here: this game is a Super Smash Bros. Melee ripoff, from the formula to the way your characters perform their attacks. Sadly, SSBM did it better. WAY better. Also, the game is way too flipping easy. The bots suck, and only win if they digivolve twice. The boss characters you unlock are really strong and make it super hard to balance out the game. The only thing that this game doesn't copy from SSBM is it has a health bar instead of a damage meter, but that's not much of a difference. Lastly, the voiceovers are different from the show for some characters. Kind of a irritation for us Digimon fans. All twelve of us.

The Bottom Line
I can't really recommend this game to others, even Digimon hardcore fans. Fighter fans, or even causal gamers, can forget it. Like if we need another anime game to trip on its feet and give itself a fatal coma, so to speak.
