The Void
Description
The Void (also known as Turgor and Tension) is a first-person action-adventure with strategy and survival horror elements. It comes from the Russian developers of the 2005 game Pathologic.
The game takes place in a strange world known as the Void, which is inhabited by the seductive Sisters and cruel, half-mechanical Brothers. The surroundings are gray and dead and the only source of life is a substance called Lympha, which is craved by the Sisters and greedily harvested by the Brothers. The player can harvest Lympha and use it for every interaction in the world, from re-growing dead trees and 'feeding' the starving Sisters, to battling the Brothers. Different colors of Lympha produce different effects, giving the player greater defense or speed, though always at the expense of something else.
The objective is simple; to escape from the Void, though how to achieve this is for the player to discover and decide. Sisters can be persuaded to open up further parts of the world. Brothers can be fought against or allied with. Strategy is involved in growing 'gardens' of colored Lympha and defending them from attack and the player is constantly fighting to survive as color drains from their body.
The world is divided into many small areas, linked by an overall map view which is used to move between locations. Movement in the environment uses a standard FPS-style mouse and keyboard setup. The interaction and battle system uses a mechanic similar to the one displayed in Okami, with mouse movements used to draw symbols on screen for various effects.
