| About myself: | I am a senior software engineer in my 30s with experience primarily in Java, C, PHP, PERL, and, most recently, Ruby/Rails. I currently work at a startup, Digital Chocolate, that makes casual and social games. Most of what I do is server engineering, but I dabble in client code (J2ME, ActionScript) now and then. I started my software engineering career in enterprise software after graduating from Rice University in 1997 with a degree in Psychology and Linguistics. I worked for a startup which was acquired by the infamous Enron for several years before it went under. I then worked for a drug discovery company called Lexicon Genetics before moving to the San Francisco bay area to pursue my long time dream of getting into the gaming industry and, well, living in the bay area. My main hobbies are horseback riding, which I have been doing since I was 9, and playing video games, which I've probably been doing even longer.
