| About myself: | Update from October 2012: This description is horribly out of date, so take everything with a grain of salt, so to speak :D.
This page has been under construction for eternity, but finally I've gotten over the laziness and decided to at least introduce myself a bit.
Anyway, I'll be honest: I don't really care about the points and I'm not here for contributing. Funnily enough, while the forums are more or less geared towards contribution-related discussions, I'm here for the community. I think MobyGames, despite having a small number of frequent board members, has wonderful people. I'm a bit of an egoistic person, but I can still say that the words of fellow Mobygamers actually matter, or at least, when Unicorn Lynx says that something's worth playing, I'll be sure to check it out! Doesn't happen that often, actually, so yeah.
Well, I guess I should reveal something about myself as well. Nothing sensational in that department, I'm afraid. 17-year old guy from a little North-Eastern country named Estonia who is fascinated with East Asian culture. I know, a weaboo, many say. But why should I feel shame for something I love? I don't idealize its culture nor people, and certainly don't think that it's clearly superior to everything else. While my main interest lies in East Asia, I'm open to all kind of cultures, people, and ideas.
I enjoy a variety of mediums, from movies and games to books and music. While I wouldn't rank games over all the other, I'd say that along with music it's the most preferrable choice of pastime from the other options.
You can see my all-time favourites games right here. While it would suggest that I favor cinematic and modern games, that's not really the case. I like many genres and many styles. Sometimes I have a thing for cinematic action-packed games, the other times I steer towards games with minimalistic story and atmosphere. Still, while I try to taste different genres from time to time, I always have at least one RPG on my currently playing list.
Favourite movies: Kairo, Memories of Murder, Christine, Die Hard series, The Machinist, Day of the Dead
Favourite books: "Les Miserables", "War and Peace", "Count of Monte-Cristo"
Favourite music artists: Shoji Meguro, Kota Hoshino, kt2, FACT, girugamesh, Dir en grey, heidi., FLOPPY, Azusa Chiba, FEAR FROM THE HATE, Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas
Favorite series: Nana, Hana yori dango, School Days, Love Shuffle, Zeni Geba, Farscape, Death Note
I'm rather emotional, and I'm really romantic at heart, and often have very optimistic outlook on everything. Or at the very least, I continue to believe in other people and my dreams. Seems overly naive, but I wouldn't be able to live as a one who approaches life with cynicism and pessimism, or is indifferent to things around him.
Beginning from autumn 2010, I'll be studying in Red Cross Nordic United World College for two years, which means pulling back on the gaming front. Still, I feel that the two years will be a life-changing experience, so it's definitely worth it.
See you on the forums! :) If you share a common affection for any of the things listed above, be sure to send me a message, I'd love to chat! |
