NES Zapper in original gray The NES Zapper, also known as The Gun or Beam Gun in Japan, is an electronic light gun accessory for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and the Japanese Famicom. It was released in Japan for the Famicom on February 18, 1984 and alongside the launch of the NES in North America in October 1985.

NES Zapper is part of the Light Guns / Attachments Supported category. The list of atypical or specific Light Gun controllers that some games support. Some games use other type of light sensor controller and support a gadget for the controller that makes it look and hold/aim like a gun (i.e. on Wii or PS3). Those games use light gun attachment that lets a motion controller be used as a "Light Gun".
