Spacetime Studios is an independent game development studio located in Austin, Texas. It was founded in late 2005 by videogame veterans Cinco Barnes, Gary Gattis, Jake Rodgers and Anthony L. Sommers. The company's first project, the space combat MMO Blackstar, was cancelled in January 2008 when publisher NCsoft Corporation announced to no longer fund the game.

The company announces to have acquired the rights to the Blackstar IP, a science-fantasy universe. The rights were previously held by publisher NCsoft, who decided earlier not to fund the project any more. Spacetime Studios now owns the rights themselves and they can further the development.
