Overview edit · view history

Slipgate Ironworks is a game development studio co-founded by industry veteran John Romero and based in the California Bay Area near Redwood City (US). The studio specializes in the development of massive multiplayer online games (MMOG's). The formation of the company, then still unnamed, was first hinted at in September 2005. The official announcement was made in July 2006.

In March 2009, it was revealed the studio became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazillion Entertainment. For most intents and purposes, Slipgate Ironworks stopped being an independent entity at this time.

On 21 March 2019, Danish developer Slipgate Studios reached an agreement to purchase and start using the name and trademark of Slipgate Ironworks for their own company. This was done primarily to resolve confusion with another Slipgate Studios company in Nevada that was developing virtual reality technologies.
