Overview edit · view history

Mucky Foot Productions Limited was a UK company made up of former Bullfrog employees. The company was active between 1997 and 2003, and was founded by Guy Simmons, Mike Diskett and Fin McGechie. They were soon joined by another Bullfrog veteran: Gary Carr.

Mucky Foot released three games in its six years of existence. They first game was Urban Chaos, soon followed by Startopia. Urban Chaos 2 never took off, and no one appeared to be interested in Skyships, a steampunk pirate game, so they settled for the movie licensee Blade II as their first two games and especially Startopia had insufficient sales to make up for the development costs.

A second office was opened in Newcastle, headed by McGechie. While still working on Urban Chaos 2, the titles The Punisher and Bulletproof Monk demanded most of their attention. The developers also toyed with the idea of developing a remake of the 8-bit title Barbarian and ER Tycoon as an update of Theme Hospital, two titles Carr had previously been involved with.

Half way through the development of The Punisher, publisher THQ Inc. decided to take the game in-house to develop it there themselves. With a cash reserve to warrant six more months, they tried to pitch more ideas, but eventually the company was forced to close down in November 2003, leaving Bulletproof Monk unfinished.
