Quantic Dream SA
Overview edit · view history
Quantic Dream is a French company founded by David Cage in May 1997. The name is based on quantum physics, a science mixing mathematics, esoterism, and interactivity with the observer.
After developing a prototype for an initial interactive entertainment using real time 3D technologies developed in-house, the company signed a deal with the English publisher Eidos Interactive.
After two and half years of development, the company delivered its first product Omikron: The Nomad Soul featuring David Bowie as the composer of the original soundtrack and the first real time 3D virtual actor in history.
In July 2000, French investors joined the company in order to develop the next generation of interactive entertainment. The company plans to combine cinema, digital television, the Internet, and interactivity for the mass-market.
In January 2019 the Chinese company NetEase became a minor shareholder and on 31st August 2022 the company announced the complete acquisition of the studio, becoming a 100% shareholder.
