Founded in 1996 by Jim McNiven, Brighton, UK based Kerb specialised in interactive website experiences, Flash games, and later, mobile games.

Between 2008 and 2010, Kerb developed several Flash minigames for promoting PSP and PS3 game releases.

In 2009, Kerb Games was launched by ex-Criterion CEO David Lau-Kee and Jim McNiven to produce persistent browser-based online games. They produced and operated Project Rockstar, a browser game and community centered around music business.

Kerb ltd was dissolved in 2016.

Project Rockstar was a free, music-based, browser MMORPG, launched in 2001. In 2009 it had around 200'000 registered players. It was shut down in 2010 due to Take-Two Interactive threatening litigation about the name.
