Cognetics Corporation was founded in 1982 by Charles Kreitzberg. The company has focused on the user experience, interaction design and usability since its inception.
In addition to Amnesia, Cognetics developed HyperTies (pronounced hyper - ties), an early pre-web browser and authoring tool for hypertext. It also created the widely-used LUCID Framework for interaction design.
