Overview edit · view history
THQ San Diego was a development studio of THQ responsible for the wrestling game WWE All Stars (2011). The company started as Midway Studios - San Diego, the main development division of Midway Games Following the acquisition of the whole of Midway by Warner Bros. in July 2009, the San Diego development studio was excluded from the deal and was put on sale. On 10 August 2009, it was first reported the studio had been acquired by THQ.
In June 2012, THQ confirmed that the studio has been closed. Most likely the decision was tied to the THQ's decision to sell the UFC fighting license to Electronic Arts, which was reported in January 2012. THQ published UFC Undisputed 3 in February 2012, but no longer pursued further fighting games afterwards, most likely prompting the closure of its San Diego studio that was working on a next UFC game.
