Aventurine S.A. was founded in October 2002 in Athens, Greece, integrating Razorwax, a small Norwegian developer who had announced the development of Darkfall in August 2001. The Razorwax team relocated to Athens and development of the MMORPG continued. Darkfall was eventually released in February 2009 and the company's focus is currently on supporting and expanding the subscription-based game.
