GameLayers is a studio focused on casual games. It was founded in July 2007 by Justin Hall after he graduated, together with Duncan Gough and Merci Victoria Grace. As a thesis project he had developed PMOG, a Passively Multiplayer Online Game created as an extension for the Firefox browser and meant to be played while browsing the web. Work on the project originally started in 2006. In March 2009 it was renamed The Nethernet and eventually discontinued in August 2009.
In September 2009 a second title was launched, the casual Facebook RPG Dictator Wars. It was discontinued in December 2009. A third project, Super Cute Zoo, ran between 7th October 2009 and 1st November 2009. It was a Facebook game of collecting and playing with common household pets and wild exotic animals.
On 31st December 2009 The Nethernet was relaunched.
