Software MacKiev was founded in April 1997 in Boston, Massachusetts, and primarily develops and ports games for the Macintosh Platform. In October 2011, The company has acquired most of the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt companies (The Learning Company, Edmark, and Broderbund) to create Mac OS X versions of the Thinkin' Things Series, Kid Pix Deluxe 3D, the ClueFinders Series, and the Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing series. Not only do they develop for Mac OS X, they also develop for Windows, iOS and Android tablets as well. The company's development studio is located in Kiev, Ukraine. (Hence the company's name.)
