Overview edit · view history
Data Becker GmbH & Co. KG was a large development, publishing and distribution company located in Düsseldorf, Germany, founded in 1981 by brothers Dr. Achim Becker and Harald Becker.
The company started as a general computer store. The Becker brothers were well-known in Germany at that time as Commodore 64 experts. The company published several books and periodicals on the subject including "64 intern" and "Textomat", both introduced in 1983. In 1992, the company's famous software series "Goldene Serie" (Gold Series) was started for "value priced" software priced under $15.
In addition to companies in Data Becker's partner distributor network, they established associate affiliates in other countries under their umbrella. These companies published software in their native languages and handled the sales and distribution of all Data Becker's products to their areas of the world. These included: Data Becker Corporation - United States & Canada (1999-2004) * Data Becker UK - United Kingdom (1999-2003) * Data Becker España (possibly later called Data Becker, SL) - Latin America, Spain & Portugal (1999-2011) * Data Becker BV - The Netherlands (c.2003-2005) * Data Becker France* - France (c.2003-2005)
The company has also used Data Becker International and Data Becker Worldwide aliases. Data Becker has terminated its operations entirely on 31 March 2014.
