Rocket Rainbow was founded after the closure of PopCap Games Dublin studio in September 2012. At PopCap the founding members were responsible for games such as Plants vs. Zombies, Peggle and Bejeweled.
In October 2014 they released their first title, Hay Ewe, on the Apple AppStore in conjunction with publishing partner Team17 Ltd. The game was released supporting 10 languages and has since received 3 content updates. In 2015 it was selected as a finalist for Casual Connect's Indie Prize and Momocons Indie Award showcase.
In April 2015 the company won an SMEaward in their home country for best Under 30's start up, presented to Christian Schinkoethe, co-founder.

Hay Ewe was released on the 30th Birthday of producer and co-founder J.P. Vaughan.
The company's first game was originally developed during a PopCamp gamejam and featured a paper level editor that allowed players to make their own levels.
