Atomic Planet Entertainment (APE) games development studio was based in north east England, and was formed in August 2000 by industry veterans Darren and Jason Falcus. APE have a large number of titles to their credit, including Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing, Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown, and the Mega Man Anniversary Collection.

In March 2009 a message appeared on the company website announcing that the company had entered administration and was no longer trading.
