Jagex Ltd is an independent developer and operator of online games that specializes in persistent character games with immersive environments, all fully 3D and playable in the browser. The studio is especially known for its browser MMORPG RuneScape, first launched in 2001 and still running today.
On 29th October 2009 the company confirmed that it had canned the successor MechScape in August 2009, just prior to its release.
