Overview edit · view history

Marvelous First Studio is an internal development studio founded by Marvelous Inc. in 2016.

The team's origins go back to the three Japanese companies cavia, Artoon, and feelplus that were acquired by the holding company AQ Interactive by 2005. In 2011 AQ Interactive was merged into Marvelous Entertainment to form MarvelousAQL Inc. Team members worked on a variety of titles the following years.

The formation of the new development team started around 2015 for the development of Monster Hunter: Stories as a spin-off of Capcom's Monster Hunter series, bringing together a lot of the old AQ team with Kenichiro Tsukuda as the Line Producer, who would go on to become the head of First Studio. The team then still operated using the name Production Department Development Section and is credited in-game as Marvelous.

The studio's establishment was then solidified in 2016 through a deal with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. to develop God Eater 3. That deal was spearheaded by Ittetsu Suzuki, who had served as a Chief Event Animator on Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles at cavia. He had previously worked on a game that had crossed over with God Eater and used his connections at the publisher to propose a team-up.

Along with God Eater 3 in 2018, the studio created Fate/EXTELLA: LINK (2018) in the Fate series and the original IP Daemon X Machina (2019).
