Speelbaars was a Dutch development group based in Hilversum, The Netherlands. Members included Steven Honders and Niels Koopmans. It started in 2013 when six students initially met while studying at the Utrecht School of Arts and Technology. For their third year school project they had one week to gather a team, think up a game concept and present a pitch. That concept became Lumini. It was released in September 2015. The group disbanded with an announcement on 24th November 2017.

Trivia +
The name Speelbaars is a play on words in Dutch. It is a composition of the words "Speel" (Play) and "Baars" (Perch). A perch if a type of fish, hence the studio's logo. But together the composition forms "Speelbaars" which contains the Dutch word "Speelbaar" (Playable) or the fish playing a game.
