Key is a Japanese software development studio that specializes in visual novels. It was formed on July 21, 1998 and is located in Kita, Osaka. Before forming Key, the founding members worked for Tactics, which also focused on development of visual novels. After the release of One: Kagayaku Kisetsu e, these developers founded Key on July 21, 1998. The new studio released their debut title Kanon on June 4, 1999.
