Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. is a Yokohama-based Japanese vehicle manufacturer founded by Yoshisuke Aikawa with worldwide operations.
The original companies that spawned Nissan's Japanese branch were Tobata Casting Co., Ltd. founded in 1910 and its subsidiary DAT Jidosha Seizo Co., Ltd. (today known as Datsun brand) in 1925 as well, the both companies were merged with the name of Jidosha Seizo Co., Ltd. in 1933. The company name changes its corporate name onto Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. in 1934. The company name is a result of an abbreviation of Nihon Sangyo Co., Ltd. established in 1928 at Tokyo managed by the same Nissan founder manufacturing Datsun vehicle parts.
The first Nissan manufactured vehicles were the Datsun Fayton 12 introduced in 1910 and the Nissan Skyline (today known as GT-R) introduced in 1957
Currently the company is managed by the CEO Makoto Uchida.
