Streamline Studios was founded in 2001 in Hilversum, The Netherlands, by Alexander Fernandez, Hector Fernandez, Stefan Baier and Renier Banninga. In 2005 the company moved to Amsterdam.

It was created as a creative and engineering outsource provider for the film, television and video game industry. Projects the company worked on include Electronic Arts' 007: Nightfire, Epic Games' Unreal Tournament, and Red Storm Entertainment's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2. The company worked on more than 40 different games in its history.

In November 2009 the Amsterdam production facility filed for bankruptcy and it went out of business. It left behind a debt between ÔéČ 0.5 and ÔéČ 1 million.

The group and all its workings went on however. In June 2010 Alexander and Hector Fernandez unveiled Streamline Production, a company aimed at managing the process of producing videogames by overseeing a company's relationship with external outsourcers. In August 2010 the WiiWare game HoopWorld was released, developed together with Virtual Toys. In December 2010 the studio Streamline Studios Malaysia in December 2010.

Currently, the company still operates using four different names: Streamline Studios, Streamline Media Group, Streamline East Ltd., and Streamline Production. None of these are still registered in the Netherlands however.
