Alligata Software Ltd.
Overview edit · view history
Alligata Software was a company based in Sheffield, UK, started in 1983 by Mike Mahoney and Tim Mahoney. They ran the shop Superior Systems and formed the company to sell the games by two schoolboys, Tony Crowther and Steve Evans, who showed them their games. Alligata was best known for Crowther's Blagger games, but he later left to work at Gremlin where he could earn more. Evans stayed and went on to make the Who Dares Wins titles.
The company produced games for systems such as the Commodore 64, BBC Micro, Acorn Electron and ZX Spectrum. Alligata was also known for its Budgie budget label.
David A. Palmer joined the company to handle Public Relations and left in 1986 for Alternative Software. Mike Mahoney left the company in 1988 and turned it over to his brother Tim. The last games were released in 1989.
