Overview edit · view history
Rock Solid Studios AB was founded in the autumn of 2001 in Stockholm, Sweden by former Paradox Entertainment AB employees Christofer Sundberg and Linus Blomberg. They were working on a game based on the Tremors film, but when Rock Solid Studios was rumoured to be acquired by Starbreeze Studios and the deal fell through, Vivendi Universal pulled the plug on the game and Rock Solid Studios shut its door due to loss of capital not too long afterwards. The two founders went on to establish Avalanche Studios in March 2003.
During the short existence, they developed RRSTech, a graphics engine for use on both the PC and Consoles that featured an advanced hybrid procedural geometry system that's ideal for landscapes and various other environments. The technology was later licensed by Codemasters for Dragon Empires.
