Toronto, Canada-based Capybara Games focuses on the creation of immersive and innovative games for a variety of platforms including mobile, iPhone, Nintendo DS and downloadable console.

Founded in 2003 with roots in the local IGDA chapter, Capybara has quickly become recognized for combining unique ideas, addictive gameplay, and compelling visual style. The studios creativity and quality-centric approach to their games have resulted in numerous awards, including the 2008 IGF Mobile Best Game and IGN's 2007 Mobile Puzzle Game of the Year for "Critter Crunch", as well as IGN's Mobile Fighting Game of the Year for "Pillowfight".

Capybara is a Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii and PLAYSTATION 3 approved developer.

Originally known as the Toronto Game Initiative, Capybara Games was founded by members of the Toronto chapter of the IGDA. While some were already industry professionals, some of the TGI participants were looking to break into the industry.
