Logidisque

Logidisque was founded in 1982 by Louis-Philippe Hébert; it was the first French Canadian software house. Logidisque published mainly professional software : "Le Secrétaire personnel" (word processor), "Le Magicien" (database management system), "L’Écrivain public", "Magiciel" (accounting software), "Hugo" (French grammatical and spelling corrector)... Logidisque also released several educational software and games : "Tétards" (the first French Canadian video game), "Caraïbes", "Arsène Larcin", "Le Jeu du chômeur", four games for Vic-20 in collaboration with the satirical magazine Croc (whose co-founder Jacques Hurtubise led the game division of Logidisque in the 90's)... The company was bought by Groupe Transcontinental in 1996 and closed in 2005.

Logidisque worked with French Canadian writers and poets : Roger Des Roches, Yolande Villemaire, Nicole Brossard, Claude Beausoleil, André Brochu, André Roy, Mario Pelletier, Corinne de Vailly, Bianca Côté... The company even gave its name to the Grand Prix Logidisque, an award given to French Canadian sci-fi books, until 1990 (it became later the Prix Logidec and the Grand Prix de la SFFQ).
