Majesco was founded in 1986 and is one of the largest privately owned video game publishers in the United States. The company develops, publishes and distributes software for different platforms. The Majesco management team is led by founder and CEO Morris Sutton. Mr. Suttonā€™s sons, Jesse Sutton (President) and Joseph (EVP), have been with the company for more than 15 years.

The company was first known as Majesco Sales, Inc. but changed its name to Majesco Entertainment Company in April 2005.

Majesco was one of the first US third-party publishers for Nintendo's Game Boy Advance, and owns an internal development house, Pipe Dream Interactive (1999) and formed a casual game development studio in November 2007.

The company opens a casual games development studio in the Los Angeles area, headed by Bill Petro.

March 2006

The company is sued by its shareholders from the Trinad Group. They request the resignation of officers Jesse Sutton and Joey Sutton. The filing against the company and several employees mentions breaching their fiduciary duties while managing business affairs, engaging in self-dealing transactions to further their personal interests, usurping corporate opportunities, mismanaging and wasting the company's assets and using poor judgment in appointing certain officers.

January 18, 2006

After turning a loss in 2005, the company cuts 20% of its workforce, abandons major publishing in favor of value and handheld video games and consequently cancels the titles Demonik and Taxi Driver.

April 11, 2005

Company changed its name to ā€˜ā€˜Majesco Entertainment Company".

April 6, 2004

Majesco puts Taldren's sci-fi action RPG Black 9 on hold. Later, it is officially cancelled.
