MichTron Corp.

Overview

Computer Shack (which later was renamed to Michtron), originally sold software for the TRS-80 Model I and Model III, both their own titles and from other software companies. They started in this market around 1980, and added the TRS-80 Color Computer in late 1982. They became quite popular due to their "Top 10" game lists (for both sets of platforms, starting in 1981 for the Model I and III, 1982 for the Color Computer), although there was some bias to their own in-house software.

As they grew in popularity, there was some legal pressure from Radio Shack to change the name, and this, coupled with their expansion into making software for other computer platforms (Atari ST, Amiga, etc.) caused them to legally change their name to Michtron on February 6, 1984.
