Trapdoor is an independent game development studio based in Montreal, Quebec (Canada). It was established in August 2008 by Ken Schachter, who was previously a studio manager at the Gameloft Montreal office. Before that he was a chief technology officer at American Apparel.
He was joined by Alex Charbonneau in the role of lead game designer. He was previously with Ubisoft Divertissements in Montreal as a designer and before that he also worked at the Gameloft Montreal office.
The studio's first title Warp was released in March 2012 and published by Electronic Arts via the EA Partners initiative. In the same month the company announced to have signed an agreement with Polytron to co-publish Fez.
