Aki's professional programming career started with working on NASA projects (telemetry processing systems for the Mission Control Center for the Space Shuttle and International Space Station on IBM RS/6000 systems) for Loral Space Information Systems (later bought by Lockheed Martin) in 1995.

In 2000, he started his video game programming career with The 3DO Company where he worked on several PS2 and GameCube SKUs.

After 3DO's demise, he joined TimeGate Studios to work on Kohan 2: Kings of War and Axis & Allies: RTS for the PC.

Most recently, he joined Hypnos Entertainment to work on the GameCube SKU of X-Men: The Official Game which came out in conjunction with the X-Men 3 movie, the Nintendo Wii SKU of Spider-Man 3 for the movie, and the PS3 SKU of Viking: Battle for Asgard.
