Jens went to college to study acting, having had a love for performance all his life. After graduating the idea of being a 50 year old waiter became less and less appealing as time in both NYC and LA passed by. Jens decided to break into a new field and flew himself out to GDC in 1995 to do some interviews. He landed a job with Activision.
His first project was Battlezone, a first person Real Time Strategy Hybrid. This experience was where he obtained his love for hybrid style games. After wrapping up several more titles with Activision he went on to work at Pandemic Studios and helped finish up Star Wars: Clone Wars for the N64. This led him to the opportunity to take on the lead design position for Star Wars: Battlefront. The game went on to become the best selling Star Wars title to date.
Jens is now working as the Creative Director on SOE's upcoming DC Universe Online. This project continues Jens' tradition of collecting bookend licenses in a plethora of genres, now having work on both Star Trek and Star Wars as well as Marvel and DC titles.
Jens loves working with both original IPs and Licenses as they provide different creative challenges for a designer to overcome. Jens is a huge believer in idea that game developers are entertainers and story tellers first and foremost and that entertainment starts in the studio in the team environment. he has worked on many techniques and concepts to incorporate creativity and the best practices of other entertainment industries to apply to his teams work flow.
Jens skills include creative and technical design, creative management, writing, VO direction and excellent communication skills.
Jens currently resides in Austin Texas with his wife and a ferocious guard dog.
