Rod Cousens

Developer Biography

Rod Cousens' career started in 1981 when he joined the publishing company Quicksilva. At the end of 1983 Quicksilva's original founders decided to sell the company. He successfully led eight months of negotiations that ended in August 1984 when Argus Press group acquired Quicksilva. He continued in Quicksilva as Managing Director until June 1985 when Argus Press moved the company from Southampton to their London offices.

At the end of 1985 Activision launched Electric Dreams Software headed by Cousens in Southampton, England. In 1986, he became also Managing Director of complete U.K. and European network for Activision and later International President at Activision, Inc..

In 1991, Cousens joined Acclaim Entertainment. From 1993 onwards, he was President of Acclaim Europe and later Chief Operating Officer of Acclaim International. On June 2, 2003, he was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Acclaim Entertainment, Inc. Mr. Cousens succeeded Acclaim's co-founder, Gregory Fischbach, who resigned the CEO position that he held since the company's inception in 1987.

On 9 May, 2005, he was appointed CEO of Codemasters. He is now responsible for managing sales and marketing, and to extend the publishing activities in new territories.

Cousens received a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) on the New Years Honours List 2010 for services to the Computer Games Industry.
