David Theurer

Developer Biography

David "Dave" Theurer is a game designer who created several notable arcade games at Atari including Missile Command and Tempest.

Theurer graduated from Chicago's Wheaton College with a Psychology degree. He had originally studied Chemistry and Physics, but changed subjects mid-way through the course. His first job was at the data processing centre of the college which was followed by stints at Bunker Ramo Corporation, as a junior programmer and National Semiconductor.

Theurer left Atari in 1990. In 2012 he was honoured with the Game Developers Choice Pioneer Award for his work on arcade games at Atari.
