Biography edit · view history

Duncan Morrison studied electronics at Kent University and followed that by doing an advanced music production course at Alchemea. After leaving Alchemea he designed and built a studio from scratch in a Cotswold barn, for Multimedia Co. ( £160K was spent on the whole project). He designed the layout of the studio and decided what equipment to buy. I then spent about 3 months wiring up and soldering the 48ch desk, 600 way patch bay etc. It took 6 months start-to-finish. When finished he worked there for 2 years engineering and producing for Virgin Interactive and produced tracks for a number of PC and Playstation games.

From there he worked freelance at Real World Studios and with the Afro-Celt sound system and other bands signed to the studio. He freelanced for a number of studios in London and also worked part time for night clubs in London running the sound systems. He then ran the Studio at Italia -Conte school of performing arts. He also designed and built various project studios.

He is a founder member of Kundalini, was in charge of the Kundalini sound and stage, managed all parties from the 1st Sunday party at Adrenalin Village to the present day. For the last 5 years he has been the head engineer and partner at the Cutting Suite, which is a vinyl mastering studio based in Clapham, London. He trained for the first 2-3 months with Chris Buchanon (head of Abbey Road for 14 years) and has now been cutting records and mastering cd's for commercial release ever since. 2 Years ago, in 2005, he completely redesigned and built their current studio. This was a 5 month long project, but they now have an amazing new studio, which also sounds as good as it looks. Mastering involves using varying amounts of modern and vintage/valve outboard, and cutting records and dub plates on a Neumann VMS 80 lathe which dates from 1980. This must be the best disc-cutting lathe made. The company cuts for a number of record labels and individuals releasing their own music. Duncan also wrote chillout & co-produces music when he has the time. Recent releases he has mastered: OOOD- Free range on organic records... Sidewinder - Pharpsyde records... in the pipeline, Laughing Buddha.

Duncan also works as a freelance photographer for a press agency, covering news events around London. He is also available for club nights, festivals etc.
