Nate began working on the You Don't Know Jack series of trivia games in 1997 at Berkeley Systems. There he was a programmer on both YDKJ French and German (1997) before becoming engineering lead on HeadRush (1998), a YDKJ spin-off for teens. He also worked on a canceled title known as Orcs: Revenge of the Ancient (1999) and a web-based Java game Apples To Apples (2000) released on WON.net in early 2000.

In February 2000, Nate joined Visual Concepts. Since then, he has been an engineer on Ooga Booga for Dreamcast (2001), NBA2K2 for Gamecube (2001), NFL2K3 for Xbox (2002), ESPN NFL Football for Xbox and PS2 (2003), ESPN NFL 2K5 for Xbox and PS2 (2004), and NBA 2K6 for Xbox, PS2, and Xbox360 (2005).
