Alexander Taylor started working in the games industry at The Creative Assembly in 2006. He worked as a level designer and scripter on their second epic-action console title Viking: Battle for Asgard. He was mainly responsible for populating the environment, creating scripted battle moments, providing level flow, choreographing large scale battles, and generally creating the world of Viking. His largest task was the complex hierarchical quest system that structured the three islands. In March 2008 he became a combat designer at the studio working on a game based on the Aliens franchise.
He left the company in January 2011 to join Climax Studios Ltd. as the lead combat designer on Bloodforge. His responsibility was implementing the creative director's vision of combat, and entailed: player and enemy abilities, player equipment and progression, enemy designs, boss encounters, character state machines, the "AI choreographer" design, animation setup, animation trees, combo and score systems, etc. He also handled other areas of the project such as level scripting, encounter balancing, and the challenge arena design.
He left Climax in January 2012 and joined Lionhead Studios Ltd. in April 2012 as an Unreal mission scripter for the Kinect title Fable: The Journey. He was responsible for creating the gameplay of various sections, across all the gameplay types offered, as well as providing polish and bug fixes as the project reached its deadline. He left the company in October 2012.
