Developer Biography

Andreas Suika (b. 24th November, 1975) completed his Abitur in North Hesse (equivalent to high school diploma) and then did three years of EMS (emergency medical services) followed by studies in mechanical and safety engineering in Wuppertal, Germany.

He joined the internal beta testing department of Blue Byte (as Lead Tester of Battle Isle 4) until a move to data management. Later, he became a Data Wizard in data management. At the same time, he was introduced to game design and worked on tutorials and missions for The Settlers IV.

In February 2001, he moved to game design and, as leading "full-time game designer", was responsible for the design of the mission CD, the Trojan add-ons and the mission CD Die Neue Welt. That same year, he started working on Heritage of Kings: The Settlers as a Game Designer.

The Settlers: Rise of an Empire in 2007 was his first project as Lead Game Designer.

In 2011, Suika left Blue Byte to found the mobile games startup flaregames together with Matthias Schindler, Georg Broxtermann and Klaas Kersting.
