Biography edit · view history
Yoshinori Sasaki was a sound and music creator, and later programmer, at Konami. He was affectionately known and credited as "Moai Sasaki" in some Konami games.
Being active since 1984 makes him one of the oldest composers among the many members of the Konami Square Wave Club.
He was in charge of arcade titles from Konami's early days, such as "Road Fighter" and "Twinbee". He later worked on MSX titles such as "Penguin Adventure" and "Phoenix Chronicles: Gaou's Adventure".
He is also famous as the model for the famous 'Moai' character in the Gradius series. This is because Mr Sasaki's appearance resembled a Moai, which is also the reason for his nickname "Moai Sasaki".
In the 1990s, he switched jobs from sound creator to programmer. His first job as a programmer was on the Sharp X68000 port of "Vulcan Venture" ("Gradius II"). Despite being a programming novice, he became the leader of the development team. Sasaki says that even when he was in charge of music, he was also involved in sound programming, so even though he was new to programming, he understood the basics of programming.
He also worked as a programmer on "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist", ("T.M.N.T. Return of the Shredder") and the Mega Drive version of "Lethal Enforcers".
