I don't buy games with DRM, so it has become very difficult to spend money on gaming lately. Because of this, and thanks to the gog.com gift service, I'm starting to spend that money on gifts of games I love. And, with a bit of luck, I'll keep the debate on DRM fresh. Here are two of them:
Another World:
OMFZ-FBRP-6Z8U-6HV5 X
VELW-H6F9-TME9-GUVT X
63H2-KPED-ECV9-KKSQ X
OVCU-OHT6-VV5Y-GRGB X
GP8V-PCYV-DMSM-T8X9 X
Outcast:
MD7E-4G2M-7P8X-CN9T X
NS75-E2V3-SSVO-5ZCE X
38KW-E96B-O4XP-FW7V X
C4NG-T49L-UODK-PHBA X
NRWR-PSR3-KDFP-YC62 X
Please, tell in a post what code you have redeemed, I'll try to mark them as they are redeemed.

...must...not...get...greedy...

It's a gift, greed cannot enter this exchange of goods.

Thankfully, my pride is higher than my greed. Though if it were RPGs on the list, my pride would diminish fairly quickly. :)

Well, feel free to use my account if anyone's interested.
Hmm. That sounds like an idea.

Thank you very much! This is very generous! But I'll have to leave it for the others: I already own Outcast and I don't like Another World.
By the way, since a few months I own a gift copy of Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition on Steam. I guess I could give it away if someone is interested.

If no one has contacted you in a pm, I'd be happy to take you up on the offer on Monkey Island. I'd love to replay these games and have recently bought the Special Edition of the second game (also on Steam), but missed the deal when the first one was on sale.

We have a winner! So I use the e-mail in your MobyGames account?

Sure, that works :) Thanks :) :)

Done. I hope I deciphered the address correctly. Add of course that you have fun with the game!

Edit: Wait, I was wrong - the codes STILL work. Apparently you have to enter the gift code in a page [ https://www.gog.com/en/gift ] I wasn't aware of. I was trying to enter the code in the checkout screen, and that spat out an error.
I was thinking of getting Another World, but I went with Outcast instead.
NS75-E2V3-SSVO-5ZCE
The last Another World code still works (I tried it out but didn't redeem it.)
Thanks!

Weeeeeeeeeeeee! I'm taking the last Another World. It's gonna be quite the moment, meeting again with this little gem after so many years... I better don't try to count them, let's leave it at "many". And I had it wishlisted too, so it's almost like a Christmas present.
That's four games on my GoG shelf now! Wooohooo! By the way, what the hell is Jagged Alliance and where did that come from? o_0
Anyway, thanks!

What free games? I have the two Fallout's and this Jagged thing. And now Another World :D
Foxhack (32100) on 12/9/2010 2:53 AM · Permalink · Report
These games: Beneath A Steel Sky, Lure of The Temptress, and TeenAgent.

Look at that, never heard of those. I'm getting Beneath a Steel Sky, I used to like that game --though something tells me I'm gonna hate it now.
By the way, I think I already wondered this elsewhere, but how come the original X-Com's aren't on GoG? o_0

All the text in the game is written that way. Every dialog with every character.

Really? I guess I remember EVEN LESS about the game than I EVER thought :P

That's a form of motion sickness. It's similar to people who get car-sick or sea-sick. I knew I guy who had the same problems in Half-Life 1 and 2.
If it bothers you much you could try pills meant for car-sickness. You should be able to get that at a pharmacy without a prescription.

I don't know if I could see taking pills just to enable playing a particular genre of game. (Perhaps someday trippy reflex games will be made to appeal to people on specific consciousness-altering substances, much as sub-genres of electronic music are irrevocably bound to one's drug of choice.)

I keep considering Duke Nukem, but I'm not sure I'm up to it
Which one? If it's Duke 3D, go for it! It converted me to FPS-fandom. As a predominantly non-violent, slow-reaction player, I was amazed to discover how much humor, charm, and attention to detail there was in this little "brainless" masterpiece.
Unicorn Lynx (181775) on 12/10/2010 5:43 AM · Permalink · Report
The Duke isn't very emancipated, though :)
So I've heard ;)
Yup, he is a total jerk. But that's what makes the game so funny... it is one of the few games of its kind which is conscious of the fact that its protagonist is a jerk :)

Interesting.
A dude wanting to become more manly and looking for manly role models to me is somewhat disturbing. I always wondered who bothered buying those men magazines and taking it seriously: lesser men.

Under capitalism, everyone is inadequate even at things that are natural to them, so as to sell them expert advice. Then if you feel you follow too much advice, they'll have advice on that for sale also.

Heh. Both twisted versions of capitalism and socialism aim for the same purpose eventually: to domesticate the cow...and the peasants still cheer at their own subjugation. Poor things.

A copy of Outcast would fit perfectly in your mixed bag, you are still on time.

I redemeed Outcast (C4NG-T49L-UODK-PHBA). I remember getting the game for my birthday back when it came out, but it would crash during installation so I traded it for something else (this was before CD-burners were wide-spread obviously).
Looks like I finally get my chance to play it now.
Many thanks to Michael Palin for his generosity!
