I played this one a lot when I was youngh and been looking for a long while but just can't find it back. It's a platformer and its on NES. (More or less same style as Mario).
But it was more oriental geared (like eastern setting) and I think (not entirely sure) the very last boss you killed and then changed into a dragon and you had to kill it again ...

No its none of those :(
The sprites where more comparable to Mario in size, so nothing like ninja gaiden (the main player was similar in height as mario i remember)...
I looked very long , even going over whole nes lists but can't find it :( which sucks as I remember it to be very good, it had nothing sci-fi about it or anything, it was a eastern setting and it was quite a nice platformer.. it didn't had any "guns" etc either, it was the usual stomp upon enemies etc
