Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat
Description official descriptions
Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat is one of the first 3D real-time strategy games. The game is based on the medieval fantasy world from Games Workshop Warhammer Fantasy Battle tabletop game. The player takes on the role of mercenary commander Morgan Bernhardt, with the Skavens (humanoid, intelligent rats) as the main villains. Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat is non-linear, the player can choose alternative missions to progress. Troops are transferred from mission to mission - as is their loss. The player commands whole groups, not single units (similar to the games in the Total War series. Soldiers themselves belongs to various groups (cavalry, infantry, machinery, archers, etc.).

The Good
This game really should be more famous. The graphics are only average, but the storyline, missions, and characters really are quite creative. " Games Workshop's" popular table top game transfers very nicely to the computer with good scenery, a variety of units and enemies, and enough heros to keep you playing. Hidden items that help win battles are in good supply, And the NPCs are always fun to watch. However, probably the best addition is the camera. Like in Warcraft III, you can zoom in on the battle, change camera angle, and so forth.
The Bad
Unfortunately, there is a serious lack of cutscenes. Also the game gets very hard fast. But probably the biggest flaw is that you can only play humans. No Orc or Skaven campaigns here.
The Bottom Line
Despite some flaws, there's a lot to like here. 8/10
