Dogfighters of Mars II

Moby ID: 112021

Description

Dogfighters of Mars II is the sequel to Dogfighters of Mars. The game requires the player to dodge the onslaught of rapidly increasing numbers of green aliens. The aliens appear in two waves. Once successful in dodging the waves, the player is granted a rotating coin which will upgrade their ship to have a laser. A moment later, the player faces the end spaceship which shoots electricity bolts at the player. It can be defeated by firing at the center of the ship (only at certain times). The end of game screen features a low resolution woman and a Gradius themed 1bit audio track.

The game is written in BASIC, compiled with TASC but also has an underlying graphics and sound engine capable of animation. An advanced 1bit audio engine plays an actual recorded soundtrack and plays realistic voice clips while animation is occurring in the background, a rare feat for the Apple II system.

The double-sided disk edition features a bonus Dogfight and audio/graphic slideshows.
