Didn't really provide much competition for the Megaman series as far as sales go, but it still does provide competition as far as gameplay goes. A great game for anyone who's a fan of Megaman games or platform games for that matter. I highly recommend this game to anyone who owns an NES.

The fun levels themselves all are different in look and layout and enemy design is pretty nice, as it gets switched up somewhat to match the level environments. Enemy boss battles are balanced and satisfying, if a bit too simple depending on your current assortment of items. Throwing boomerangs has never been this fun, at least in 8-bit form.

The wealth of power-ups add a lot to the action, as does the maze-like structure of the complex, meaning you have to find a route through instead of just walking left to right. Power Blade is a fun game which sensible NES owners should sally forth and purchase at the earliest opportunity.

One excellent feature not found in many (if any) 8-bit action games: when the Warrior gets hit, he doesnât fly backwards like Mega Man or Simon Belmont. This is a tremendous help later on when heâs bouncing from platform to platform and enemies are shooting or flying directly at him. As an action title, Power Blade doesnât have the unbridled creativity of Bionic Commando, but itâs fast-paced, difficult, and rewarding. An overlooked gem.

Power Blade is a great game and a must have for action game fans. This was a title I took a chance on thanks to Nintendo Power and it panned out. It has a lower profile than its contemporaries but is just as good and dirt cheap to boot.

The sectors surrounding the Control Center are equally challenging to compete. You can either them in any order. If one Sector is giving you trouble, move on to another and return when you have better weapons.

The bottom line is this: Power Blade is one the better action games there is for the NES. I'm really surprised it never gained the popularity of the other series (then again, it was released at a time when 16-bit systems were gaining grounds.) Still, any side-scroller fan owns it to themself to pick up this game and have fun.

Power Blade isnât as popular as it should be considering how good it is. I can remember the extensive coverage Nintendo Power lavished on it but it seemed to go under the radar. Donât make the mistake of avoiding it if you like any of the best classics for the NES since Power Blade has elements of nearly all of them wrapped in a neat package.

This game only has two real faults. One is the lack of useful restart points in each of the levels... No big deal. But far worse is the lack of any decent challenge. If the task was as difficult as it is payable I'd recommend it. But it ain't, so I can't. Sorry, you'd best look elsewhere for a lasting blaster.
