CJ in the USA

aka: CJ's American Antics
Moby ID: 12774

Description official description

The follow-up to CJ's Elephant Antics, in which we find that The Hunter has kidnapped CJ's brothers and sisters and trapped them at various points around the USA. Needless to say, young CJ sets off to rescue them.

The game is a standard platform title, in which you can shoot peanuts at your enemies, or use bombs you collect.

You start with 9 lives, which sounds generous, but the levels are full of spikes and bad guys which can come to get you at any point. The enemies include policemen, Indians, dogs and burly American footballers (quite a stereotypical view of Americans there). Each level has a guardian at the end.

Highly addictive platform game.

The Good
The addictive platforming action, the exploring of the levels, the nice-looking graphics, the well-animated little enemies and the imaginatively-designed bosses and backgrounds. Good ending sequence as well.

The Bad
The music gets a bit dull after a while.

The Bottom Line
CJ the Elephant, star of 'CJ's Elephant Antics' is once more called into action. This time, his relatives have all been kidnapped by a hunter and taken to America. They have already been sent to various parts of the USA, so it's up to you - as CJ - to make your way through four 2D scrolling platform levels, finding the elephants and fighting off the hostile hazards. The levels contain such places as the Big Apple, the wild west, Hollywood and Disneyland, each level ending in an encounter with a giant, extra-tough enemy. The varied hostile elements you meet along the way include everything from rats, alligators and snakes to American football players and cowboys (and this must be the only game I know of to contain cute cartoon muggers and Klu Klux Klan). Just as good as the first CJ game, and well worth tracking down if you're a fan of platform games.
