The Political Machine
Description official description
Have you ever wanted to have a real say in the political system of the United States? Would you like to manage a candidate for the President of the US? If so, here is your chance.
The Political Machine allows you to manage either a real political candidate, or one that you make yourself. Choose to manage someone like George W. Bush or John Kerry for example, or design your own candidate and choose the political party, the candidate's statistics, and the state the candidate is from.
Then, choose to play in either a realistic United States, where real demographic information is used to determine what states are interested in and what political party the people of that state tend to favor. Or, choose to play a fantasy game where all information is randomized for each state and what the states find to be important topics are fantasy topics rather than realistic ones. You can also choose to play a campaign mode, where you work to unlock candidates and work to finally compete against the top candidates of all time.
The game allows you to play against a computer candidate, or a human candidate online. Play through 41 weeks and see who wins.
As you play, you will have the opportunity to do many things to help get those votes you need to win. You can give speeches in different states, build campaign headquarters, go on cable TV shows such as "The O'Maley Scenario" or "Hard Hitter," and more. There are also random events that happen (the cable TV shows are one of them), such as getting a war hero to join your cause, or getting someone from Hollywood to support you. Altogether, there are 15 of these random events, in addition to the cable TV events.
You can also choose to get endorsements from various special interest groups which may or may not help your campaign. Or, if that doesn't suit you, you may choose to hire an operative to help out... such as a smear merchant, spin doctor, or intimidator.
Running out of money? Plan a fundraiser... preferably in a state with a lot of money and which supports you.
With multiple map views to show everything you could need to know about the states, information about each candidate's views (based on your default political party views and what you choose to stand for in your speeches and advertisements, you will have everything you need to win the election... if you choose to do the right things at the right times and do not alienate the public.
