Reign of Fire is a good game and is worth at least a rental. The game will provide challenge even the most hardcore gamers. You should pick it up at least to experience how many dragons come at you and what you do in response. It's crazy and I love it. If you enjoyed the movie, you'll enjoy the game. There are plenty of extra features including movie clips and Mad at Gravity's Walk Away music video.

Schöne Partikeleffekte sowie gut modellierte Fahrzeuge und Drachen machen was her. Insgesamt aber enttäuscht Reign of Fire völlig.

(PAL version)

What is good about Reign of Fire though is the support for deaf gamers. Apart from the FMV, which is unsubtitled, the speech is fully subtitled at the bottom of the screen and because there is always plenty of action going on, the developers put little markers by the person who is talking, which I thought was a nice touch. Deaf gamers should have very few problems with Reign of Fire.

Overall, there are some things here which may appeal to a lot of you action buffs out there, and all negative things removed … the combat itself either as human or dragon can get pretty intense at times and no one can say that there are quiet moments to this game. Ultimately, the frustrating control, repetitive gameplay, and average graphics will not appeal to a lot of folks and will quickly kill a good time … even for heavy action fans (me included), and I would definitely recommend renting this game prior to purchasing, even for that younger dragon fan on your list.

For a publisher looking for movie licenses, Reign of Fire is theoretically a perfect choice. It's got everything: A clear battle between two distinct foes -- brutally fierce, fire-breathing dragons, and a rag-tag group of post-apocalypse military rednecks angry, desperate and armed with enough fire-power to make a difference. But despite the Mad Max hints of outlaw tragedy, the movie Reign of Fire went down in flames. The game fares only a little better.

Reign of Fire lacks polish however, causing my mood to alternate between excitement and aggitation. The difficulty of the missions is wildly uneven - some are incredibly hard while others require little effort. The frame rate gets a little rough when things get hectic, and the load times are easily the longest I've seen on the GameCube. Clips from the movie are interspersed with the stages. Despite its lack of polish however, Reign of Fire's visually compelling action is exciting enough to keep you coming back for more.
